Whitsun 2021 (maybe)
Whit Monday dancing schedule and other useful information
Because of the COVID-19 health emergency the usual Whit Monday day of dance was cancelled for 2020. We present here the information from 2019 to give you an idea of a typical Whit Monday would look like. It remains uncertain whether we will be able to have the Whit Monday activities in 2021, but we will keep this site updated with the latest information.
Morris dancing has been part of Bampton's Whitsun (now Spring Bank Holiday) festivities for centuries. Here is the information you need to join us in this ancient tradition. Dancing begins early with each side starting off at their home pub and carries on until late afternoon when there is a break for tea (and perhaps a bit more). Dancing resumes around 6:00 pm with the invited sides taking over the show at various locations. By tradition the invited sides do not appear on the streets of Bampton 'in kit' before 6:00 pm.
For our guest sides this year we are delighted to welcome Stanton Harcourt and Thames Valley Morris Men.
